The Terrace Restaurant

Shoe Leather

Yellow Gray Gray Gray Gray

As a rule I won't do a negative review, I will just chalk the event up to experience and move on. Tonight is different for two reasons. First, the food was lousy. Second I am old and grey and feel disrespected when I have to show my ID in order to be served an alcoholic beverage. On the second count, I am done with it. I will leave the restaurant or switch to ice tea before I show my ID again for a drink. I know it's not the most important fight on the battlefield. I don't care if it is policy or law. it is a slight to me when a teenager questions my age. I'll say nothing more on count two.

Count one. I walked from one end of Salt Lake City's airport to the other scouting out a restaurant that would serve a decent meal. I had a three hour layover and had eaten at Dick Clark's Grill on several other trips. Something different was in order and The Terrace restaurant looked promising. I should have asked someone first. I ordered a rib eye, medium. A reasonably priced twenty something dollar rib eye. Nothing exotic, nothing difficult. I will keep this brief. The waiter asked me if I would like a steak knife, I replied by asking him if he had one that would cut shoe leather. Waffle house serves better steaks and that is not meant as a slight to Waffle House.

If you travel to Salt Lake City and have a lay over at their fine airport, get a burger at Dick Clark's Grill and avoid The Terrace at all costs.
