This is where my mother grew up. In this house, 10 children were raised (one bathroom), around 30 grandchildren were spoiled, thousands of adventures were had.
Sadly, it now stands empty. But only of people. The memories remain.

What a grand home, and I bet filled with memories! Will this stay in your family? I hope so! What year was it built?
Not sure when it was built. It was moved onto the family farm sometime around 1950. Before that, my Grandparents, my mother and at least 2 other kids, and my Grandfather's Mother lived in a 2 room house on another section of the property.
The original farm came into the family in 1908 I think, and I still have an uncle who farms the original fields (along with several nearby). We got an award last year for farming the same groud for a century.
I'm not sure what is going to happen when my uncle retires. None in my generation are farmers.
A Century Farm...honored! Yes! Oh, the home was moved...! The windows were telling me early 1900s, but the foundation was not.
The interior reminds me of the house I am staying in now, which is at least 130 years old. But I don't think anyone has ever figured just when it was built. Much of the electrical work inside is original (and slightly dangerous) cotton-wrapped wires. At least, I think it's cotton.
Yeah, it's probably cotton, although silk and even paper was used to insulate electrical wiring. The good news is at least it's not aluminum! You've probably got a lot of gorgeous straight-grain wood in the homes too.
