She is deaf and mute. Bore unspeakable tragedy her entire life. Freed two years ago with another girl, her only friend (hearing). They had invented a totally unique sign language. Now they are learning universal sign and she is learning to read and write. She's jumped 8 grades in 2 years and is apprenticed into the jewelry program which she says has given her a voice.
