Global Cooling?

February 19, 2008

If you had read this Newsweek article in 1975, you might not have made many long-range plans. Fortunately, this Global Cooling (that's right, cooling) scare died down, and temperatures that had been falling since about 1940 reversed direction and resumed a general rise. In the context of today's news, it's a fascinating read and perhaps... well, I'll leave that up to you.

There are ominous signs that the Earth's weather patterns have begun to change dramatically and that these changes may portend a drastic decline in food production - with serious political implications for just about every nation on Earth. The drop in food output could begin quite soon, perhaps only 10 years from now.

The evidence in support of these predictions has now begun to accumulate so massively that meteorologists are hard-pressed to keep up with it. In England, farmers have seen their growing season decline by about two weeks since 1950, with a resultant overall loss in grain production estimated at up to 100,000 tons annually. During the same time, the average temperature around the equator has risen by a fraction of a degree - a fraction that in some areas can mean drought and desolation. Last April, in the most devastating outbreak of tornadoes ever recorded, 148 twisters killed more than 300 people and caused half a billion dollars' worth of damage in 13 U.S. states.

Here's the rest of the article: http://www.denisdutton.com/cooling_world.htm

In other words, perhaps this only Global Warming thing is like the
New England weather; if you don't like it, just wait a while.

Bird flu, SARS, global warming. Seems the media is always looking to promote the next big thing when it comes to killing us all off. I think I am becoming numb to it all.

If the scientists are this far off on global warming, makes you wonder what else they're wrong about.

Cancer.

Trans-fats.

The JFK-Lee Harvey Oswald one-assassinin theory.

Speaking of Global Warming, or "Global doing something but we're not quite sure what?".....did you know that Gore's ELECTRICITY BILL REVEALED he burned through 22,619 kilowatts in ONE MONTH...more than twice what the average family uses in an ENTIRE YEAR.

So clearly, he's not worried.
