I've gone to my farm in Kentucky for the weekend. It's a great place to relax, do a little hard physical labor, and forget about the rest of the world. If you don't have such a place, I highly suggest you get one.
In the meantime, here's a little something that I found for you to read with your morning coffee.
See you on Monday.

I'm curious as to whether we have anything similar in the U.S. The county prison farm doesn't count.
Manual labor on a farm, or good old fashioned hard work in general, is a worthy antidote to a lot of civilized maladies. It's better than drugs and alcohol. Anything that builds character is superior to the latest "self-esteem" programs. So many of the latter programs are about "feeling good" and very little about long term goals of making and doing something worthwhile.
Unfortunately, we're living in the "Brave New World" of warm and fuzzy feelings, being constantly entertained, and "get rich-quick schemes", instead of encouraging personal achievement through hard work and dedication to character building activities.
I enjoy and embrace the romantic concept of life that is embodied in the very literate and literary writings in the J. Peterman Owner's Manual (isn't that why were all here?). But wouldn't you agree that that life is earned. It's the reward, the gift, you give yourself. It's not something you're entitled to, it's something you achieved. You earned it.
Hey, it's Sunday, so I thought I'd preach a little, even if I am preaching to the choir. Who else will listen?
