I've gone to my farm in Kentucky for the weekend. It's a great place to relax, do a little hard physical labor, and forget about the rest of the world. If you don't have such a place, I highly suggest you get one.
In the meantime, here's a bit about the next big mashup.

Continental drift. Are they sure it has happened before? I can't remember a thing. Must have amasia.
I hope I'm around to see this. I just would love to walk over to Asia for lunch
Haha...Gondwanaland reunite!
These mental masturbation are so fun because we will never be able to prove it right or wrong
The trouble with this theory..when I walk over to Asia for lunch, I'll want to walk back for snacks an hour later.....HEY! is that why they all look so trim over there? Hungry right after eating? We should adopt that strategy- - replacing dessert with a polite " I'll be back in a while, I have to walk to America..."
Hmmm..... your place or mine Roadie?
Oh no......! Hawaii's in the path of the tsunami triggered by the 7.7 MW in BC, Canada
In 50 million years, I will walk to Hawaii for breakfast...an omelet with polynesian sausage and pineapple...
I guess "talking topics" are the newest thing on this site, which might just be a good thing. I know some days I'm technically "awake" yet nevertheless unwilling or unable to fully engage the rest of the world. This may be due to DRD ("dark roast deficiency"), aka "haven't had my coffee yet," or PFCS ("pretty friggin' cold syndrome"), sometimes categorized by pulling the covers back over my head and shivering. In either case, and CERTAINLY under acute circumstances wherein the two phenomena converge, having the topic "read" to me is probably therapeutic.
I think that the next time I have one drink too many, I will say that I am not swaying or stumbling, but I am reacting to the drift of the Continents.
Carol King refrain- I feel the earth move under my feet, I feel the sky tumbling down tumbling down...When I work jigsaw puzzles I often try to force pieces that don't fit but kinda sorta look like they do. Maybe maybe not on the continental matchmaking. The parable of the foolish man who built his house on shifting sand comes to mind 'cause on a macro scale our house is the earth and it is built on shifting everything. The concept of safe and sound is a myth. That's why I'm a man of great faith. Even if I'm wrong it's better for me to think in the end everthing's gonna be OK. That's also why I listen to reggae and lean toward comfort foods. Globes are cool because you can spin them like a roulette wheel and say bonne chance
Bert I too am at a loss - various 'bits' of nearly on-topic wandering round my head. My cat will gently take my eyelashes in her teeth and prise my eyes open - see eyeball therefore Haze is awake.
I have done the dishes, so that's the tectonic plates sorted.
My little brother when he was learning to speak invented the word 'Iswoz' to explain how things that you expect to stay the same ...... just don't. I bet that somewhere in your head is a map of the world. They don't publish a new one every day, but every day the map changes a little bit. It's an iswoz. I couldn't say if this is down to movement of tectonic plates, water erosion, human meddling or what.
This "Continental Shift" crapola is brought to you by the same satanically driven morons that gave us, "Global Warming" ... "The Check is in the Mail" ... "I'm from the government and I am here to help you" and " I won't ... well, the other one .......
In Sacred Scripture The Creator tells us, " The Earth is FIXED in the firmament ..." .......
There IS NO shifting in fixed .......
"There IS NO crying in Baseball ..." ...
There are absolutes in the Universe, that must be understood, and adhered to .......
Anything other ... leads to the condition the world is in today ....... Aren't we all having a marvelous time !!!
Haze,Bert,et.al, humans can never see the whole ball of Earth at the same time. That,is where Faith comes in.
Funny,Jalopkin and I said the same thing,at the same time, half a country apart
Greetings: I'm currently located on my couch, hoping it will drift closer to the refrigerator.
Salute to the Captain!
Guess that earthquake the tumbled through Virginia some months ago let me feel some plates shift, but now waiting for this "mega" storm I may see a lot of other things shift in the perdicted high winds.
Chef DEb, are you among those told to evacuate soon?
Hey, Just had a visit from Sandy...Lot of rain, not much wind, blowing steady now at aprox 33MPH. Not far from normal, just wet.
My greatest fear is that some overloaded waitress accidently hits the exit side from the kitchen door at exactly the wrong time and drops her load of really loud plates creating another big bang.
I've squirted hot mustard into my eye when that has happened in the past....
RUSTY Thanks! I personally do not have to evacuate but the potential for being trapped at my property by local flooding near to me. Have spent 24 hours exhaustively battening things down and now have settled into soup making and baking. We lost power for 5 days in last year's Irene. Fingers crossed for this one! My son-in-law from CO has never been in a hurricane before so he is freaked out of his gourd. We just keep saying "its New England. Anything could happen with the storm and we may just end up with heavy rain." I wish I could show you a picture of how he parked their vehicles to avoid trees (not easy here!).
Right now our Miss Blue is in the process of a pounding...we have at least another 12 hours to go.....what amazes me most is thzt where I lived in NYC is in the Evacuation Zone! Yikes!!
Does anyone think the storm could blow the tectonic plates further together,or apart? If the storm surge is bad enough, can it be called a threenomi?
Watching some news from Florida, a diverse and strange land which perhaps compares on the "weird chart" only with California. The newscasters headquarter in a public place officially known as "Bo Diddley Plaza." Wish I had known about this dedicated public park when we were discussing the worship of celebrities..... Perhaps Florida & California at one time were connected, then tectonic plates must have somehow drifted apart. This theory is supported by MUCH anecdotal evidence, such as the spontaneous generation of a copycat Disneyland in Florida. Be forewarned, you might be well-advised to take notes, there's a test in the morning.....
Seems like we once again have a very modest turnout at out special venue. Perhaps our host could award door prizes to encourage attendance?
Nil Desperamdum, Bert~ They'll be back. Like that Floyd dog who hasn't shown up in ages, but I bet he will once I have a good meaty casseole simmering in the oven.
Bath & bed, me - hospital appointment at some ungodly hour tomorrow. Nos da, dear people.x
Sorry, Mr. P, this is one of those "and I should care because...?" kind of topics! I tried, read the blurb, but just could not work up the energy to be interested. (Just got the granddaughter back home, so maybe I am too tired to think.)
Hello everyone! Wishing good weather and for Sandy to be a 90 lb. weakling along the NE coast. ChefDeb, Lynn, Capt. Neptune, and all in the path .....be safe.
Twice the greetings....Hello and Goodbye....going to read my Sunday paper and hit the pillows early.
Maybe it's just us who have failed to play the hand we were dealt topic wise, which was neither good nor bad,.....and make it interesting by just running with it.
That's how it used to work here.
I usually read everyone's (well almost everyone's) posts before reading the topic which is probably putting the cart before the horse
Well anyroads, no big deal either way.
Best wishes to you Hazel for your hospital visit tomorrow.
Eastern seaborders....be protected and be well
Thanks PL and Mooseloop. Hatches batttened down...ready & waiting.
Hazel
, may angels be encamped around you tomorrow for the medical appointment,Chefdeb, Julia
, and all who may be affected, may you stay in an oasis of calm even if raging waters and howling winds surround.I don't mind these topics, like i said, they're neurobonkers (wish i had made up the word). Today, I read that dinosaurs did not roam the earth, that they all lived in some kind of aquatic environment, which supposedly explains why we don't see tail prints. I can't see that logic, animals today don't drag their tails either, but, like the topic today, how will anyone be able to prove? For that matter, quantum physics is all theoretical too, yet it has turned the science we knew upside down. But I think many are tired today because of information overload, and with so much of that put out for political agenda, vested interest or plain mischief, it is inevitable we now approach the media with scepticism, or information fatigue.
Blessings to all who are trying to reason
with hurricane season...
'Well, the wind is blowin' harder now
Fifty knots or there abouts,
There's white caps on the ocean.
And I'm watching for water spouts
It's time to close the shutters
It's time to go inside....'
Gonna try to avoid airports this week.
Giants win the World Series! Good for you Jane.
What a Series Miss Jane. A tip of the cap to your Giants, a great team of ball players! It was an exciting Series with two exceptional teams and two of the best managers in baseball, Bruce Bochy and Jim Leyland. To the Tigers fans, what a year and...maybe next year.
Thanks Peter and Paolo..."we" did it! It was a fine series. ...some outstanding plays. I was sure Sandoval would get MVP. My husband was betting on Blanco or Romo. I have a lot of respect for Leyland.... a real class act. I felt a little bad for Detroit that the series ended in a sweep, because it's good for businesses...I think of all the packed bars and restaurants that won't be now that it's over....but, that's the way it goes. Romo must have the best slider ever....and his last pitch was so in there! Yes! Exciting! Now what?
Tectonic plates refer to the "mass movement," of the Earths crust, which again, just last nite, the world had another tectonic plate movement of the Canadian Continental shelf. The abrupt change in the physical initial dynamics of the earth moving crust had caused an earthquake...7.7...and most naturally caused a Tsunami wave that measured only 3 foot high above the normal ocean level and hit into Hawaii; the 3 foot change did no harm, Hawaii was spared from a rogue water wave of change....and destructive path that the moving Earth challenges the inhabitants of Earth! Today, my daughter in Hawaii is safe; My other daughter just moved from Spring Lake New Jersey to Brighton...and I am glad she is not in the path of Hurricane Sandy...Oh my! My children and I stayed at the hospital, while I prepared food boxes for the Hurricane Hugo...tragedy...back in 1991; the wind speed was 145 mph..category 5..Next to the hospital Tornado's touched down and the roof at the OB Wing where we lived and rode out the Hurricane evening....it was scarey...always leave 3 days before the Hurricane; Do NOT STAY; if you car is parked outside it will be nicked and banged up by the weather.your safety is in danger...you can not ride it out so close to the shore...Mother Nature is too powerful..and you need to seek shelter...get out of town....and danger is eminent...get out of town to a safe location...Hurricanes are dangerous!!! Good Nite..hope that no one comes into harms way.. and all citizens are safe throughout the next couple of days!
