Dead Zones Likely Tied to Global Warming

Dead Zones Likely Tied to Global Warming Los Angeles Times Peering into the murky depths, Jane Lubchenco searched for sea life, but all she saw were signs of death. Video images scanned from the seafloor revealed a boneyard of crab skeletons, dead fish and other marine life smothered under a white mat of bacteria. At times, the camera's unblinking eye revealed nothing at all -- a barren undersea desert in waters renowned for their bounty of Dungeness crabs and fat rockfish.

Global Warming? It's the Coldest Winter in Decades

Global Warming? It's the Coldest Winter in Decades Daily Express NEW evidence has cast doubt on claims that the world’s ice-caps are melting, it emerged last night. Satellite data shows that concerns over the levels of sea ice may have been premature. It was feared that the polar caps were vanishing because of the effects of global warming.

Kiwis Raise Their Glass to Global Warming

Kiwis Raise Their Glass to Global Warming London Telegraph Global warming, which is threatening drought-stricken wine makers in Australia, could be a boon for New Zealand's viticulture. Rising temperatures would make colder areas of the country more suited to grape cultivation and allow for even better conditions in regions already producing. Pinot Noirs from the South Island region of Otago are fast making a name across the world, while the Marlborough region boasts some of the finest Sauvignon Blancs.

Sharks in Antarctica? AFP Global warming could bring ferocious sharks to Antarctic waters, threatening a unique marine life shielded from predators by frigid conditions for millions of years, biologists warn.

If you had read this Newsweek article in 1975, you might not have made many long-range plans. Fortunately, this Global Cooling (that's right, cooling) scare died down, and temperatures that had been falling since about 1940 reversed direction and resumed a general rise. In the context of today's news, it's a fascinating read and perhaps... well, I'll leave that up to you.

There are ominous signs that the Earth's weather patterns have begun to change dramatically and that these changes may portend a drastic decline in food production - with serious political implications for just about every nation on Earth. The drop in food output could begin quite soon, perhaps only 10 years from now.

The evidence in support of these predictions has now begun to accumulate so massively that meteorologists are hard-pressed to keep up with it. In England, farmers have seen their growing season decline by about two weeks since 1950, with a resultant overall loss in grain production estimated at up to 100,000 tons annually. During the same time, the average temperature around the equator has risen by a fraction of a degree - a fraction that in some areas can mean drought and desolation. Last April, in the most devastating outbreak of tornadoes ever recorded, 148 twisters killed more than 300 people and caused half a billion dollars' worth of damage in 13 U.S. states.

In other words, perhaps this only Global Warming thing is like the
New England weather; if you don't like it, just wait a while.

Bird flu, SARS, global warming. Seems the media is always looking to promote the next big thing when it comes to killing us all off. I think I am becoming numb to it all.

If the scientists are this far off on global warming, makes you wonder what else they're wrong about.

Speaking of Global Warming, or "Global doing something but we're not quite sure what?".....did you know that Gore's ELECTRICITY BILL REVEALED he burned through 22,619 kilowatts in ONE MONTH...more than twice what the average family uses in an ENTIRE YEAR.

So clearly, he's not worried.

Global Cooling?

Global Cooling? American Conservative Union The official thermometers at the U.S. National Climate Data Center show a slight global cooling trend over the last seven years, from 1998 to 2005. Actually, global warming is likely to continue—but the interruption of the recent strong warming trend sharply undercuts the argument that our global warming is an urgent, man-made emergency.

The Other Carbon

The Other Carbon Wired Blog Network Black carbon is composed of very fine particles of carbon that can be released into the air in aerosol form. They are generally generated by burning some type of biomass, like firewood.
